Police Clash with NUP Supporters at Belated Women's Day Event in Mityana
“…Woman's Day celebration organized by our Members of Parliament in the area has been violently disrupted by trigger-happy goons in security uniform,” the National Unity Platform (NUP) principal, Mr Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine tweeted Thursday.
The belated Women's Day event organized by the National Unity Platform (NUP) in Mityana District, Uganda, turned into chaos as police violently disrupted the gathering. The event, which had been organized by opposition MPs and local politicians, was meant to commemorate International Women's Day, which is celebrated globally on March 8th.
However, the police showed up in large numbers, wielding batons and tear gas, and clashed with NUP supporters, leading to injuries and arrests.
