The game was dominated by the home team, who showed impressive resilience and tactical acumen against a team that many had predicted to win.

The Red Devils had gone into the game on a high after beating Fulham before the international break. But they were poor during the contest on Tyneside, with goals from Joe Willock and Callum Wilson sending the home fans wild.

Newcastle were the better team against United, who had beaten them in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley back in February.
Erik ten Hag's side now find themselves involved in a battle to qualify for the Champions League after a recent dip in form in the top flight.

Fresh from the international break, United were hoping to secure a positive result to cement their place in the top four. Erik ten Hag looks dejected after going two goals down during the Premier League match between Newcastle United and Manchester United at St. James Park.

Ten Hag's charges were unable to get the job done away from home as the Magpies humbled the Red Devils to climb to third in the Premier League standings.

According to The Mirror, two second-half goals from Joe Willock and Callum Wilson were enough to see off Ten Hag's men.

Reacting to the defeat, Ten Hag delivered a stinging criticism of his players' display, hitting out at their attitude. "We had our opportunities but then you have to go for goal with the determination they did. It wasn’t good enough.

We allowed them too many chances. You have to be hungry and give everything every game," he said. “Our attacking game wasn’t good enough. I don’t want to focus on one person. It was a team performance," he added. United will now be looking to make amends when they take on Brentford in their next Premier League clash set for Wednesday night, April 5, at Old Trafford.
