Over 798,000 Candidates Set to Sit for Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) Today

More than 798,000 pupils nationwide are taking their Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) today, marking an important milestone. This much awaited occasion marks a significant turning point in young pupils' academic careers as they get ready to move from elementary to secondary school. The tests, which will be administered at several locations across the country, are the result of years of perseverance, hard work, and commitment.

The candidates were initially briefed by their individual head teachers and invigilators on Monday, according to Ms. Jenifer Kalule, spokesman for the Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb).

According to Ms. Kalule, on November 6, the candidates will take the Mathematics paper this morning and the Social Studies and Religious Education paper in the afternoon. Tomorrow, November 7, they will finish their papers, with English in the afternoon and Integrated Science in the morning. Of the 798,763 applicants, 379,414 are male and 419,357 are female

The special needs category includes 3,295 candidates in total where 1,677 females and 1,618 males.
In compliance with Uneb norms, these will be granted an additional forty-five minutes. In accordance with their unique requirements, they will also get the assistance they require. Large print question papers are available for people with low eyesight, and braille answer sheets are available for the blind, Ms. Kalule stated.
