The Battle for East Africa: Uganda clash with Tanzania in Afcon 2023 Qualifier.

Football fans across East Africa are gearing up for a much-anticipated showdown as Uganda and Tanzania face off in the Afcon 2023 qualifier in Ismailia, Egypt.

With both teams hungry for a win to secure their place in the continental tournament, the stakes are high and the tension is palpable. The match promises to be a thrilling display of skill, passion, and rivalry as these two East African powerhouses battle it out for football supremacy.

The fixture pits two sides with just a point in the competition after two games and defeat or victory could be the turning point in failure or success in the campaign.

It should be noted that this is the 11th time for the two terms to meet in the competition and 62rd overall with the Taifa Stars edging the last time the two faced off in 2019 qualifying campaign.

2023 Africa Cup of Nations will be hosted by Ivory Coast and will take place from January to February 2024 where twelve group winners and runners-up will qualify for the final tournament.

The qualification for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations will take place from 23rd March 2022 to September 2023 with Senegal being the defending champions of the Africa Cup of Nations trophy.

Kenya and Zimbabwe have been disqualified from the qualifying race for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations due to FIFA suspensions over “political interference” in football administration. CAF had included them in the official draw on the condition that the suspensions must be lifted two weeks before their first matchday, but this did not happen, and the two teams cannot vie for a spot in the 2023 AFCON. CAF stated that Groups C and K, which included Kenya and Zimbabwe, will still produce two qualified teams, despite their disqualification.
