Tragic Attack in Kagadi District: Eight Dead, Eight Injured in Mizizi A Village Assault

Residents in Mizizi A Village, Kyaterekera Sub County, Kagadi District, have been devastated by an attack by unknown assailants that proceeded under the cover of darkness. At least eight people were killed and eight more badly injured.
According to police spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke, the attack took place on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, and is now under active investigation by both the police and the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).

The injured patients, eight in numbers, have been admitted to various facilities in Kyaterekera and are currently being treated.
According to preliminary police reports, "members of a new cult whose name is yet to be established descended on people, the majority of whom are their family members, and cut them with sharp objects, resulting in their death and others being injured.
In a statement released on Wednesday, police spokesperson Mr. Kituuma confirmed, “A joint team of police officers and UPDF responded to the incident, encountering two suspects—Baguma Obedi, 33, and Munyirambe David, 36—who were subsequently put out of action.
“We are investigating the incident, and the motive behind the attack remains unknown. We appeal to the public to provide any information regarding this incident. Your cooperation is crucial in bringing the perpetrators to justice,” police emphasized.
