The strategic blueprint shed light on UMMB's background, its current operations, challenges faced, and a roadmap for progress over the next five years.
Currently, UMMB operates across 13 regions in Uganda, overseeing 69 healthcare facilities ranging from General Hospitals to Health Centres. This extensive network has been a beacon of medical care and wellness for communities across the nation. However, the plan doesn't stop there; it envisions growth and transformation on a remarkable scale.
The core pillars of the strategic plan revolve around the establishment of a robust UMMB Secretariat, the establishment of the Firdausi Medical Stores for efficient supplies, and the expansion of healthcare facilities. UMMB's goal is to increase its network to over 125 health facilities, with each region benefiting from a General Hospital.
Furthermore, the plan focuses on upgrading the existing Health Centres to align with national health policies and ensure comprehensive care.
Mr. Kivumbi's call for support from the USMC underscores the collaborative spirit at the heart of UMMB's mission. The plan's success hinges on securing land for the Secretariat, fostering partnerships with development entities within the Muslim World, and ensuring the success of the forthcoming Annual Health & Stakeholders Convention.
The USMC National Management Committee wholeheartedly welcomed the strategic plan, acknowledging its significance in advancing healthcare within the Muslim community. The decision to allocate land for the Secretariat near the Old Kampala Main Mosque reflects a shared commitment to realizing UMMB's vision. The path ahead includes quarterly engagements to foster continuous dialogue and exchange of ideas, reinforcing the spirit of partnership.
With the Ag. Secretary General of UMSC, Hon. Muhammad Ali Aluma, and other departmental heads present, this pivotal moment symbolizes unity, determination, and a shared dedication to creating a healthier and more vibrant future for all. As the UMMB's strategic plan sets the stage for a transformative journey, it highlights the power of collaboration and underscores the enduring spirit of compassion and care within the Muslim community.
It should be noted that the Uganda Muslim Medical Bureau (UMMB) is a national organization established by the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) in 1999 to coordinate activities of Uganda Muslim health facilities
