Unraveling Museveni's Summit with Ruto and Raila on the Grounds of Kisozi Farm
Meanwhile, analysts speculate that Raila Odinga, who recently expressed his willingness to serve as the African Union Commission Chairperson, may have shared his vision for the future of the continent during the gathering.
Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni recently hosted a high-level meeting at his esteemed Kisozi farm, drawing the attention of regional observers and political analysts alike. The gathering saw the presence of prominent figures from across the border, including Kenya's President William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga.
The meeting centered on tackling mutual concerns and enhancing collaboration between Uganda and Kenya. President Museveni expressed contentment with the talks, emphasizing the significance of upholding a strong relationship between the neighboring nations.
“I was happy to meet President Ruto and Rt. Hon. Odinga this afternoon at my farm in Kisozi. We discussed issues of mutual interest between our two countries. I welcome them,”
President Museveni stated, underlining the significance of the diplomatic engagement.
President Ruto shared photos on his social media platforms depicting the trio engaged in discussion while overseeing cows in a grazing field. Their host, President Museveni, is renowned for his pastoralist lifestyle, frequently dedicating his leisure time to tending to his cattle.
In a statement by Ruto, it was revealed that among the topics discussed by the trio was the candidacy of the ODM leader for the chairmanship of the African Union Commission, among other matters.
“Had the pleasure of meeting President Yoweri Museveni at his Kisozi country home in Uganda. We discussed critical issues that affect our two countries such as energy and petroleum,” Ruto said.
“Also discussed was the declared candidacy of Kenya’s former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for the Africa Union Commission chairmanship,” the Kenyan president added.
The gathering is timely, occurring as Uganda and Kenya confront challenges in fuel trade. The leaders directly tackled these issues, striving to find common ground and bolster economic cooperation between the two nations.

Meanwhile, analysts speculate that Raila Odinga, who recently expressed his willingness to serve as the African Union Commission Chairperson, may have shared his vision for the future of the continent during the gathering.
The leaders exchanged perspectives on how regional collaboration could play a pivotal role in advancing Africa's interests on the international stage.
On February 15, Raila declared his interest in the AUC chairmanship seat, expressing his readiness to take on the role.
“I am inclined to accept the challenge and I am ready and I offer myself to be of service,” Raila said after holding talks with Former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo at his Karen home.
Obasanjo reportedly facilitated a deal that led to the creation of Bi-partisan Talks, effectively bringing an end to the anti-Ruto protests initiated by the Azimio coalition.
