Gen Muhoozi vows to fight corruption as He Assumes Office as new CDF
Uganda’s First son and Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba officially assumed office as Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) on Thursday, March 28 in Gulu City.

As Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba officially assumes the role of Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) in Uganda, he pledges to prioritize the battle against corruption within the military ranks. With his inauguration into this crucial position, Gen Muhoozi sets forth a resolute commitment to instill transparency and accountability, signaling a new era of integrity and efficacy in Uganda's defense forces.

Uganda’s First son and Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba officially assumed office as Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) on Thursday, March 28 in Gulu City.
The official handover ceremony unfolded at the army's 4th Division Headquarters Thursday, March 28 in Gulu City and was overseen by Caleb Akandwanabo, also known as Salim Saleh, who serves as the Special Presidential Advisor on Defence and Security and holds the position of Chief Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation (OWC).

Gen Muhoozi assumed the role of Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), succeeding Gen Wilson Mbadi, who was removed from the position by President Museveni and appointed as State Minister for Trade in the cabinet.

Gen Muhoozi pledged to enhance the welfare of soldiers by combating corruption and addressing mismanagement of resources. He affirmed that the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF), under his leadership, would maintain professionalism, moral integrity, and effectively address comprehensive national security challenges.


 “UPDF continues to be the principal pillar of the Ugandan state that all Ugandans respect. UPDF is the central institution of Uganda’s nationhood because entry into it is open to all Ugandans,” Gen Muhoozi said.
Muhoozi also commended the outgoing CDF for his exemplary leadership in cultivating a modern and professional armed force.

 He urged soldiers to shun the mentality of "arrivism," cautioning against complacency and emphasizing the importance of continued dedication and growth within the military ranks.


According to Gen Muhoozi, to have the best equipment, the best uniforms, education, welfare, and accommodation, among others; can only be done by fighting corruption and mismanagement of resources and promising to work with every soldier to achieve what is expected of the forces.


He further urged troops to uphold their role as guardians of African interests by embracing and leveraging emerging technologies.
