Jinja Based Musician, Top K arrested Over Defilement

Ronald Bamukisa alias Top K a renowned Jinja city artist spent the night behind bars for alleged defilement and abduction.

According to Mr James Mubi, the Kiira Region Police Spokesperson, incident occurred on Monday at Green Summer bar and lodge in Jinja City Southern division after Top K being rounded up by attendants on allegations of defiling a 13-year-old girl.

He however locked himself inside the bar, prompting the bar attendants to alert police officers, who forcefully opened the door and arrested him. Bamukisa spent the night at Jinja central police station awaiting prosecution. The minor’s father, whose name has been withheld, says that Bamukisa was conducting music shows in Kayunga district, where he mobilized young girls to act as dancers.

Mr Mubi advised parents to take full charge of their children and protect them from “such evil persons in the community”, adding that the suspect will deter other artists from sexually abusing underage girls.

“If you think you have money and want to use it to exploit young girls, we shall take you to prison with your money,” Mr Mubi added.
