Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Patrick Onyango, the Kampala police spokesperson, has officially confirmed the shooting incident involving Engineer Daniel Bbosa.
“True the clan head was shot and killed. Mob chased the two assailants and arrested them. They took the law into their hands and killed both of them. The gun and the motor cycle the assailants used were recovered,” SSP Onyango said.
Police from Old and Katwe policing divisions arrived at the scene but it was too late since the shooters had already been killed.
The motive behind the shooting of Engineer Daniel Bbosa remains unknown, adding to the complexity of the investigation surrounding his untimely death. This tragic incident occurred just four days after the release of the 2023 crime report compiled by the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), which revealed a concerning statistic: 300 individuals were killed using rifles over the course of the year.
The timing of Engineer Bbosa's murder in relation to this report raises further questions about the prevalence of gun-related violence and the need for enhanced efforts to address this issue within the community and Uganda at large.
