Busoga Queen Emerges in First Public Appearance Since Royal Wedding
Queen Jovia Mutesi and King William Gabula Nadiope exchanged vows on November 18, 2023, in a breathtaking ceremony held at Christ Cathedral Bugembe in Jinja City.
The Queen of the Busoga Kingdom, Her Royal Highness Jovia Mutesi, graced the public with her presence on February 23, marking her first appearance since the grand royal wedding three months prior.

During her highly anticipated public appearance event, Queen Jovia Mutesi graciously hosted her subjects to a sumptuous lunch at Igenge Palace, nestled atop the picturesque Igenge hill in Jinja North City Division.
Before treating her subjects to a meal, Queen Mutesi, along with the Neyendeire Women Initiative led by Ms. Dorothy Kisaka, Executive Director of Kampala Capital City Authority, initiated her duties with cultural rituals, such as gardening.

Some of the activities Queen Mutesi started with include, planting of potatoes, harvesting matooke from the garden and peeling it amidst jubilations.
The Queen returned to the palace and later reappeared, accompanied by the King, His Royal Highness William Gabula Nadiope IV, to greet her subjects.
In her address, Queen Mutesi briefed her subjects about the cultural norms of a good family in Busoga.
According to Queen Jovia Mutesi, a strong family unit should ideally consist of both a father and a mother as the leaders, with children showing respect towards their parents and abiding by the rules set forth within the household.
Queen Jovia Mutesi encouraged women to embrace hard work and discipline as essential pillars for the development of Busoga.
