There are a lot of reports going around on social media claiming the President named AIGP Grace Akullo as Deputy IGP and Maj Gen. Leopold Kyanda as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP). Furthermore, there are rumors that Maj Gen. Geoffrey Tumusiime Katsigazi, the acting IGP and current Deputy IGP, was appointed as Uganda's military attaché to Beijing.

Nonetheless, Mr. Kirunda asserts that there has been no such development and that the public would be notified via proper channels of any appointments made by the President.

“The news circulating on social media regarding appointment of the new Inspector General of Police and the Deputy is fake news. The general public will be informed when the President makes these appointments – PPU,” he said through his official X handle.
