At least 10 women have been arrested by police for unlawful Assembly and inciting violence in Wandegeya in free our husbands' protest
The suspects were apprehended on Wednesday from Kalerwe zone, Mulago III parish, Kawempe division in Kampala District.
The arrest comes amid a series of protests in the region, raising concern about public safety and the protection of citizens’ rights.
The suspects were carrying placards written; 'stop torture', 'Free my husband', and 'we want equality for Mrs Olivia Lutaya', among others.
The group of women was chanting “free our husbands, it's meaningless to celebrate International Women's Day amidst challenges.
According to them Women’s Day means little to them because many women continue to die while giving birth.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, SSP Patrick Onyango, The suspects allegedly planned for the demonstration from National Unity Platform (NUP) offices at Makerere Kavule.
“Then they moved one by one and assembled at Zakaria plaza and they matched up to Kalerwe market.” He added.
The suspects include Kyeone Stella, Nakiku Allen, Namatovu Milly, Nankya Fiona, Sselonga Rukia, Bulungi Jackie, Nantume Allen, Sylvia, Ramuto Apio Flavia, and Nyanzi Elizabeth and they are detained at Wandegeya as investigations are ongoing.
