Remembering Hajj Hussein Kyanjo: Former Makindye West MP Passes Away at 63
He has been laid to rest in peace (Saturday) at Ntuuma in Bukomansimbi District as per the Islamic burial rituals.
The former Member of Parliament for Makindye West, who was also known as a visionary businessman and co-founder of Justice Forum (JEEMA), breathed his last at the age of 63.

Hajj Kyanjo passed on this morning (Saturday) at Kibule Hospital in Kampala where he was rushed to nurse a long-term illness. He was battling colon cancer according to multiple reports.
His political party, JEEMA, in a Saturday statement, confirmed his death saying thus; “We are incredibly saddened to announce the death of one of our party founder members and Secretary General emeritus also former Member of Parliament for Makindye West Division Hajji. Hussein Kyanjo. Burial arrangements will be communicated in due course. Inna lillahi wa Inna lillahi raajiuun.”
The Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Anita Among also tweeted to confirm the demise of Hajj Kyanjo whom she described as a distinguished lawmaker who set a bar for legislative excellence in the August House.
“It is with great pain that we received the news of the passing of our elder and former Makindye West MP Hon Hajj Hussein Kyanjo. Hajj set the bar for legislative excellence and leaves a legacy of a distinguished lawmaker, a unifying factor and a leader who exhibited integrity,” tweeted Anita Among.
According to reports, Hajj Kyanjo had been battling colon cancer, stage four, for some time before his passing.
Prior to his cancer diagnosis, he had also been diagnosed with Dystonia, a disease that affected his speech centre. He could hardly speak and had been using a speech aid to help him communicate.
He served as the legislator for Makindye West on two occasions (2006-2011) and (2011-2016).
