In their first-ever appearance in the prestigious tournament's final, Kyaggwe has set their eyes on making history by overcoming the reigning giants, Buddu, as the Buganda Masaza Cup final draws near.
Kyaggwe's confidence has reached new heights following an incredible run throughout the competition, and they have confidently promised to defeat Buddu and win their first title. In the meantime, Buddu, a seasoned contender in the Masaza Cup, is not going down easily. The underdogs want to win this match, and Buddu wants to hold onto their supremacy.
The much awaited championship match between Buddu and Kyaggwe is scheduled on November 2, 2024, at the Mandela National Stadium, the shrine of Ugandan sports.
Following an outstanding 2-1 aggregate victory over Buweekula in the semifinals, Kyaggwe secured their historic qualification. After a hard-fought, goalless draw in the second leg at the Mubende PTC playground on October 13, 2024, their disciplined effort, highlighted by a solid defensive show, won their position in the final. Kyaggwe's Bukunja warriors shown tenacity and cooperation, and they are now focused on winning the greatest reward.
The formidable Buddu Ssaza team, who has advanced to their Seventh Masaza Cup final, stands in their way. After a thrilling 1-1 tie with Kyaddondo in the semi-final return leg, Buddu secured a 4-2 aggregate victory and a berth in the final. The match took place in front of a boisterous crowd at the Kitovu Arena in Masaka City. Ismail Keita Ndifuna's effort for Kyaddondo was not enough to stop Buddu's progress to the final. Hudson Mbalire scored the game's winning goal for Buddu.
The day’s events will kick off with the third-place playoff match between Kyaddondo and Buweekula at 11 AM, followed by the grand final between Buddu and Kyaggwe at 3 PM. Tickets for the event are priced at 20,000 UGX (Ordinary), 50,000 UGX (VIP), and 100,000 UGX (VVIP), with gates opening at 8 AM.
