Richard Todwong, the Secretary General of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), has officially affirmed that the party will endorse its current chairperson and incumbent, Yoweri Museveni, as its presidential candidate for the 2026 elections.

Todwong made the revelations at a function to celebrate the NRM Day in Serere District over the weekend.
“He will be our flag bearer come 2026 and he is ready to serve the country,” Todwong said.
According to Todwong, President Museveni has ensured peace and tranquility, which should be galvanized until there is another candidate with the credentials to take Uganda forward, unfortunately he and the NRM, see none yet.
He indicated that the MK Movement, along with its newly established arms such as the Uganda Patriotic League, both overseen by Museveni's son Muhoozi Kainerugaba, along with the pressure group Mzee Tova Ku Main, are all mechanisms aimed at securing the ongoing leadership of President Museveni.
