Gen. Muhoozi named New CDF in Cabinet Shake-up, Gen.Mbadi Moves to Trade Ministry

President Museveni has appointed his son, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, as the new Chief of Defence Forces (CDF). Gen. Kainerugaba takes over the esteemed position from Gen. Wilson Mbasu Mbadi, who has been reassigned as Minister of State for Trade in the latest cabinet reshuffle.

The Commander-in-Chief (CiC) additionally elevated Maj Gen Jack Agonza Bakasumba from UPDF Chief of Staff Land Force to Joint Chief of Staff within the Ugandan army, assuming the position previously held by Maj Gen Leopold Kyanda. Maj Gen Kyanda, on the other hand, is slated to serve as a defense attaché in a yet-to-be-disclosed country.
Brigadier David Mugisha, the Special Forces commander, has been elevated to the rank of Major General in the recent promotions. Additionally, Colonel Asaph Nyakikuru, a SFC Commando, has received a promotion from President Museveni, advancing from the rank of Colonel to Brigadier.
