Breaking News: UPC's Sarah Aguti Emerges Victorious in Dokolo Woman MP By-election
On Thursday evening, Ms. Aguti was declared the winner of the election by Mr. Erikwaine Ngobi, the Dokolo District Returning Officer. She secured victory with 23,044 votes across the 173 polling stations scattered throughout the northern Uganda district, surpassing five other candidates in the race.
Sarah Aguti, representing the Uganda People's Congress (UPC), has emerged victorious in the Dokolo Woman Member of Parliament by-electiongarnering the most votes in Thursday’s By-election.
On Thursday evening, Ms. Aguti was declared the winner of the election by Mr. Erikwaine Ngobi, the Dokolo District Returning Officer. She secured victory with 23,044 votes across the 173 polling stations scattered throughout the northern Uganda district, surpassing five other candidates in the race.

Meanwhile, Ms. Rose Adong Janet Elau, Aguti’s closest competitor from the ruling NRM party, secured second place with 14,001 votes. Dr. Rosemary Acwol Ogwal, the daughter of the late Cecilia Ogwal and representing the opposition FDC party, came in third with 8,168 votes. Harriet Ageno of the NUP party trailed behind in fourth place with 727 votes.
Two independent candidates, Ms. Akullo Esther-Obot and Rebecca Arao, secured 790 and 439 votes respectively, adding to the diverse range of contenders in the election.
