If rejecting corruption is what will divide us, then it's a good reason-Robert Kyagulanyi

In a bold statement, Robert Kyagulanyi, commonly known as Bobi Wine, has articulated a fundamental principle in the face of potential party division. With clarity and conviction, he asserts that if the rejection of corruption becomes the catalyst for a split within the party, then such division is not only justified but also essential.

“If rejecting corruption is what will split us as a party, that is a good reason for splitting because this is what split us from Museveni in the first place,” kyagulanyi Robert

it seems that we have some members who have been in the struggle too long and now they are okay with corruption as long as they get something to eat as well. We have many of them.”

Bobi Wine addressed the issue of escalating division within the main opposition party on Radio Simba yesterday, as key officials raised concerns about his leadership and handling of the Mathias Mpuuga situation.

This week, reports emerged stating that almost half of the NUP MPs failed to attend a meeting called by Bobi Wine at the party offices, with most not even sending apologies for their absence. Nevertheless, Bobi Wine affirmed that the party will not be compromised by these individuals.

“We have things that govern us as a party and these are; discipline, reliability and integrity. When we were starting this term, we made our MPs swear to fight corruption in Parliament and not accept to be bought,” he said.

“But many of us left that line; the likes of Twaha Kagabo, Jimmy Lwanga and now Abed Bwanika,” he said.
Last weekend, Kimanya Kabonero Masaka city MP Abed Bwanika launched a strong criticism of Bobi Wine's leadership, calling for the removal of the party's Secretary General, David Lewis Rubongoya.

Dr. Abed Bwanika called for the resignation of National Unity Platform (NUP) Secretary General Lewis David Rubongoya, alleging that the former National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporter lacks loyalty.
Bwanika insists that Rubongoya was not part of the initial team that made the NUP, but all of sudden, he was given a position much to the dismay and surprise of most people.

In 2021, NUP's Rubongoya clarified his relationship with President Museveni, stating that their falling out occurred over the age limit issue.

"I was a supporter and admirer [of Museveni] like other people who look up to him, and over time, he was my role model. He was someone that I looked up to. First of all, with more education, you begin to understand a few more things about society and how it is governed," he expressed during NBS TV's popular Face-off show” Lubongoya clarified.

It all began when Mathias Mpuuga, the Former Leader of the Opposition and Nyendo-Mukungwe MP, a significant figure within Uganda's National Unity Platform (NUP), was replaced by Francis Zaake as Parliamentary Commissioner amid corruption allegations involving Shs500 million against Anita Among.
However, during yesterday's radio show, Bobi Wine retaliated against the Kimanya-Kabonera MP, likening him to the biblical woman who attempted to have a friend's baby split in two.
