Kyabazinga Dismisses Land Sale Rumors, Reaffirms Kingdom's Ownership.

In a resolute and reassuring statement, the Kyabazinga of Busoga, His Majesty William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope Kadhumbula IV, has firmly addressed recent rumors suggesting the potential sale of the kingdom's land.

According to His Royal Highness William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV, the kingdom does not sell but only leases its land to those who are interested.

“I’m the only one with authority to give out land in Busoga Kingdom because I represent the whole Busoga. What I do is to give express powers of patron to the Katuukiro alone, and they are also registered in Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB).” He said.

The Kyabazinga urged people in Busoga to plant various species of trees as a way of preserving the environment plus getting herbs for medication, based on the year’s coronation theme of benefitting from the environment through planting trees for fruits and herbs. He also rallied his subjects to plant crops for food and commercial purposes.

“I call upon you to plant trees wherever you reside like at schools, churches, health centres, Saza grounds, sub-county headquarters and at our homes. This will enable us to preserve our environment and I also call upon you to grow crops for food and commercial purposes,” HRH Gabula said before urging youths to be involved in development activities like business, agriculture, education and above all to explore their talents.

The Kyabazinga comments come amid reports that had earlier this month emerged accusing the royals of selling part of the Kingdom’s land found in Jinja to some individuals.
The Kyabazinga made his statement during his 9th coronation anniversary event at the Namungaalwe playground in Kigulu chiefdom’s Iganga District.

The First Deputy Prime Minister, Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga who was also among the guest speaker on behalf of President Museveni, spoke about the importance of preserving marriages and families through culture.

This resolute stance by the Kyabazinga underscores the importance of preserving cultural heritage and maintaining the integrity of ancestral lands. It also serves as a testament to the leadership's dedication to safeguarding the interests and well-being of the Busoga Kingdom's inhabitants.
