Tooro, Bunyoro Anglican Dioceses Seek Shs2.1 Billion for Martyrs Day Celebrations

The Anglican dioceses of Bunyoro and Tooro are preparing for the June 3 Martyrs Day celebrations this year. However, raising Shs 2.1 billion in funding is necessary for these celebrations to be organized successfully.

This significant sum is needed to pay for a variety of event-related costs, such as planning, venue setup, security setup, and other arrangements that are required to make the celebration seamless and unforgettable.

The province designated the six dioceses from the Tooro and Bunyoro sub-regions to spearhead the planning of the celebration at the Anglican shrine, according to Ruwenzori Diocese Bishop Reuben Kisembo, who confirmed the information.

"The organizing committee for the celebration has already commenced its work, and on Thursday, March 28, we held a meeting with President Museveni, to start soliciting funds," Bishop Kisembo stated.

He stated that of the Shs2.1 billion overall budget, President Museveni will contribute Shs1.5 billion, with the remaining sum to be gathered from institutions and churches.
