Major Shake-Up in Buganda Kingdom Cabinet: Ssekabembe, Kyewalabye, and Nankindu Out in Kabaka's Reshuffle

The Buganda Kingdom has witnessed a major reshuffling of its cabinet under the leadership of Ssaabasajja Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II who has  dropped Ministers; Owek Henry Moses Ssekabembe Kiberu (Youth Affairs), Dr Prosperous Nankindu Kavuma (Health) and Owek Kyewalabye Male in the new changes at the Mengo Cabinet.

The three ministers have been replaced by Robert Sserwanga and Anthony Wamala (Principal of Buganda Royal Institute) and Ms Cotilda Kikomeko (chairperson of Buganda Kingdom Education Committee) according to a press statement dated August 01, 2023.


 Oweek Charles Peter Mayiga has been maintained as the Katikkiro with Twaha Kaawaase and Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa as the first and second deputy premiers respectively.
In other ministerial changes, Kabaka has also appointed Mr Israel Kazibwe as the new Kingdom Spokesperson, replacing Mr Noah Kiyimba who has since been appointed Minister for Cabinets and Lukiiko Affairs.


Owek Daudi Mpanga has also been appointed Minister for lands while the Kabaka maintained Owek Charles Peter Mayiga, Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa and Hajji Twaha Kawaase Kigongo as Katikiro and Deputy Katikiros respectively.


A new ministry in charge of mobilization and it falls under the Kabaka’s spokesperson has also been created.
