Sheila Nvanungi: Buganda Should Ditch Birthday Marathon for Kabaka's Prayer Session.

Sheila Nvanungi is a Ugandan journalist and media personality who has been vocal in advocating for a shift in the way Buganda Kingdom celebrates the birthday of its king, the Kabaka. Nvanungi has argued that instead of the traditional marathon that is held every year, Buganda should consider holding a prayer session to honor the Kabaka’s health.

Princess Sheila Nvanungi has come out and showed serious concern over the Kabaka's health, through a video clip shared online, she has urged Buganda Kingdom officials to cancel this year's Kabaka Birthday Run and replace it with a Nationwide Prayer session for the King's Health.

According to her , the forthcoming Kabaka should be called off because of the traditional leader’s ( Kabaka) deteriorating health state and that the most people who turn up only use the event to toast to life which won’t look good.

Sheila states that Kabaka being a traditional leaser, he is a human who also faces health problems like anybody else.

The Kabaka’s Birthday run is set to happen on Sunday,16th April 2023.

It should be noted that Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi was flown out of the country to receive special treatment in German and returned in the country on 1st April 2023 through Entebbe International Airport.

He was welcomed by the first Deputy Katikiro, Owek Dr. Twaha Kawaase at the airport and headed to his palace.

The King who looked healthier, has for the past years been rumored sick and in dire situation and the Opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine in a tweet recently prayed that the Kabaka heals and returns to shame all enemies within and outside the Kingdom.

However, in a tween by the Kingdom Television Station BBS Terefayina, the King was abroad on official duties.

“Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has safely returned to his kingdom from outside countries where he has been on official duties. The King returned on Friday and was welcomed by the First Deputy Katikiro Dr. Twaha Kawaase on behalf of Owek Charles Peter Mayiga.” the tweet reads.

There have also been speculation on whether the Kabaka will attend the “Kabaka birthday run” organized by the Kingdom to improve health service delivery within Buganda.
