Ssenyonyi and Nabanja Clash over Alleged Government Fund Misuse in Fiery Public Exchange

In a recent public function, tensions flared as Hon Joel Ssenyonyi, representing the National Unity Platform (NUP) who also doubles the Leader of Opposition and Prime Minister Robinah Nabanja engaged in a heated exchange over alleged misappropriation of government funds, shedding light on how taxpayer money is being managed.

Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, Leader of Opposition Joel Ssenyonyi and legislators had gone to attend a mass at St. Jude Lukaya Parish in Kalungu District to celebrate the Parish's silver jubilee.

Ssenyonyi directly accused Nabanja, alleging her complicity in the wrongdoing. As per the opposition leader, every case of missing funds appears to be linked to Nabanja's office, leaving him puzzled about how such occurrences transpire under her supervision. Ssenyonyi further asserted that Nabanja was among those indulging in the misuse of government funds.
Prime Minister Nabanja strongly denied any involvement in the alleged misappropriation. She accused Ssenyonyi of baseless mudslinging, stating that she has been unfairly targeted without evidence to support the claims.

She strongly denied accusations of pilfering iron sheets or participating in any illicit distribution of funds among officials.

During the exchange, the recent scandal involving NUP's former leader of opposition, Mathias Mpuuga, accused of embezzling over UGX 500 Million, was also brought into the spotlight. Nabanja distanced herself from the controversy, emphasizing that she played no role in the alleged financial misconduct.
