UK-Based Woman Appeals to Busoga Clan Leaders to Halt Upcoming Kyabazinga’s Wedding.

In a surprising turn of events, a woman residing in the United Kingdom has taken it upon herself to write to the heads of Busoga clans in Uganda, urging them to put a halt to the impending wedding of Kyabazinga William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV.

It should be noted that in September, Kyabazinga named Jovia Mutesi as his queen and wife to be and consequently, a  royal wedding has been organized for November 18, 2023 at Christ’s Cathedral Bugembe in Jinja City.

However, in letters dated October, 16, 2023 to the head of clans, Alison Nadiope has through lawyers written to them and the entire Busoga kingdom that she got married in the civil court in the United Kingdom to the Kyabazinga in December 2016.
“They have two children. Mrs Nadiope is prepared to provide a copy of the marriage certificate and photographs of the marriage if requested,” the letter written by Anne Cuthbert Solicitors Limited reads in part.

he continues to emphasize that she extended her support to the Kyabazinga all along during the marriage, covering his educational expenses, including a recent payment of £1,755.00 for his school fees, and overseeing the maintenance of the household and the welfare of the children

The woman in the UK asserts that the Kyabazinga has not legally separated from her, even as he makes arrangements for a new civil marriage, and she has cautioned him about the potential repercussions of entering into a new marital union.
"She informs us that he is on the verge of entering into another civil marriage, a move that would constitute bigamy and is subject to legal consequences in the UK. Engaging in bigamy carries a potential penalty of up to 6 months of imprisonment, as determined by the magistrate."

This development unfolds just as a 25-member committee was recently appointed to lead fundraising efforts for the upcoming royal wedding.
Gabula who was born in Jinja on 1 November 1988 is the son of Wilson Gabula Nadiope II, onetime minister of tourism in the Ugandan Cabinet, who died in 1991, and Josephine Nadiope, who died in 1993.

His paternal grandfather is William Wilberforce Kadhumbula Nadiope III, who ruled as Kyabazinga from 1949 until 1955 and from 1962 until 1966. Nadiope III was also the first vice president of Uganda, from 1962 until 1966.

Gabula Nadiope was unanimously elected by the ten Busoga Royal Chiefs who convened at Bugembe on 23 August 2014 for the purpose of electing a new Kyabazinga. Prince Edward Columbus Wambuzi, the eleventh Busoga Royal Chief, who was also contesting for the throne, did not attend the meeting.

Gabula was unanimously approved by the Busoga Lukiko (Parliament) on 25 September 2014.Following an unsuccessful last-minute court challenge,
Prince William Gabula was crowned as the 4th Kyabazinga of Busoga at Bugembe on Saturday   13th September 2014
